Congratulations to Aerospace graduate student Reider Larsen for being named the 2019 °µÍø½ûÇø Student Employee of the Year.
He was nominated by Gina Lafferty and Lee Reedy, from the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP)-Mission Operations where Reidar works as a Graduate Research Assistant – Mission Operations Command Controller (CC). Reidar’s position supports the commanding, planning, data analysis, engineering analysis, ground operations, and software tools for LASP- operated NASA missions and spacecraft. Working alongside Flight Controller professionals, Command Controllers (CCs) assist with anomaly diagnosis, troubleshooting, and recovery actions. CCs must develop a thorough understanding of each of the eight spacecraft and payloads operated at LASP and are responsible for planning and sending commands to multi-million dollar spacecraft.
Ìý Reidar naturally gravitates toward difficult tasks, no matter how demanding. Many of his projects, often self-identified, have helped minimize the data analysis hours required to monitor instrument and spacecraft safety.Ìý
