In this talk we describe a numerical strategy for solving the Painlevé equations.Ìý Developed by Bengt Fornberg and the speaker, it allows one to compute pole fields in extended regions of the complex plane quite efficiently. In the second part of the talk we focus on Painlevé II, and apply this tool to visualize pole dynamics of some well-known solutions such as the Hastings-McLeod and Ablowitz-Segur families of solutions.
