Tutorial: Adding Captions to Vimeo Videos
This tutorial reviews how to upload a caption file to videos that you upload to Vimeo. Please refer to the Captioning Quality Guidelines when creating or editing caption files.Ìý
Step One

Step Two
Go to your after your video has been uploaded. To do this, select Library from the Vimeo menu options.
Step Three
Click or select the video in your library. This will take you to a new page with all the editing features available for your video.

Select the Languages button from the left-side menu.

The languages menu will open. Select the Upload button to add a new file.
Please note: The languages menu may offer you an option to order human-edited captions through a third-party company called Rev. The captioning team in CU Boulder’s Digital Accessibility Office has established relationships with third-party vendors to provide high-quality captioning services at a lower cost per minute. If you are interested in using a third-party vendor for human-edited captions, please complete the Captioning Request Form or email Captioning@Colorado.EDU to get started.

A pop-up will appear, prompting you to select a caption file from your computer. Vimeo recommends using VTT files whenever possible, but you can also upload SRT files.

In theÌýLanguageÌýsection, select the language of the video. Finally, in theÌýTypeÌýsection, select whether the file is subtitles or closed captions. Once you have completed all the sections, selectÌýUpload.

Once your file is uploaded, double check that the caption file is enabled in the Languages menu. There is a toggle switch next to the file name. Make sure the toggle switch is to the right, which will also display a blue color when in light mode.
