Our School of Education is facing a unique opportunity toÌýconsider community nominations forÌýthe honorary renaming of our campus building.Ìý
Our school moved to aÌýÌýin 2020. As the next phase of the remodel and fundraising effortsÌýcontinue, we haveÌýa historic opportunity toÌýrenameÌýour building currently known as the Fleming Building,Ìýa name that belonged to a former Law School Dean from when the building housed the Law School.
Together with a committee of alumni, donors, faculty, staff and students,Ìýwe have established an honoraryÌýnaming nomination process, and we invite you to submit nominations byÌýMonday,ÌýNov. 28, 2022.Ìý
ProjectÌýTimeline
- Summer 2022: Committee selection and criteria setting for honorary naming nominations
- August-November 2022: Committee seeks nominations
- December 2022: Committee reviews nominations and makes a recommendation to the Chancellor
- February 2023: Once/ifÌýapproved by the Chancellor, we submitÌýthe recommendation to the Regents for review
- Fall 2024: New building dedicationÌý
Criteria
The nominee’s work and contributions should embody theÌýmission of the School of EducationÌýand our commitments to democracy, diversity, equity and justice.
In addition, the nominee should be someone who has supported the education of informed educators, researchers, policy makers and/or community leaders.Ìý
We seek a nominee who has transformed the field of education and/or educational practices in pre-K-12 schools and universities.Ìý
The nominee should be an alumni, faculty or staff member who has a connection with the School of Education.
The nominee may be living, deceased or retired. According to regental rules, if you nominateÌýsomeone who is deceased or retired they may not be proposed earlier than five years after their death or retirement. Additionally, the person may not be currently working at the university.
