Boulder Food Rescue

Site Description

Boulder Food Rescue is a just-in-time food rescue working to eliminate food waste and food insecurity in Boulder County. We do this through a decentralized network of over 150 volunteers who pick up donated food that would be wasted from grocery stores and other retail locations throughout Boulder, sort through it to ensure its quality, and then deliver it to communities that need more food access. Each day BFR rescues about 1,500 lbs of food, and through the course of a year we reach over 7,000 people and save over 500,000 lbs of food. We are a multiracial, multicultural & multigender team. Many of us come from lower-class backgrounds. Many of us are LGBTQ+. We are consistently working to deepen our commitment towards sharing power and democratizing leadership, dismantling white dominant culture, and creating a culture of support and care. The majority of the work that BFR does is via distance so working with us offers flexibility with scheduling and the ability to work primarily remotely.
