The Environmental Design First-Year Experience (FYE) Program launches on Thursday, August 26. The launch event will welcome and cover how the new program will work for all incoming ENVD students. Students will also learn how they can become eligible for a studio supplies scholarship.

First-year incoming and transfer students will automatically be enrolled as part of the FYE program, which will provide opportunities for design mentorship, strengthening academic confidence within the design program and assist in building out a network of connections amongst peers and the ENVD community.

Attend the launch event on Thursday, Aug. 25, 5:15 p.m. in ENVD 134.

Using your Buff Portal Advising account, you can join Environmental Design drop-in advising and connect with an advisor by following these five easy steps.

ENVD remote drop-ins will appear like this on the calendar in Buff Portal Advising.

Step 1: Select "Click to check-in"

*This is the list view of drop-ins, which is the default on mobile devices.

Step 2: Check-in by entering your identikey or Student ID (SID)

Step 3: Select the appropriate meeting

Step 4: Enter the topic(s) you would like to discuss

Step 5: Monitor your colorado.edu email account for an email with a Zoom link once an advisor becomes available

Check and resolve any holds you may have on your student account. The inability to address holds in advance of your registration date may result in delayed enrollment.

Search and add your courses to your shopping cart before meeting with your academic advisor. Access a list of ENVD electives and studio descriptions.

Three ways to connect with your ENVD advisor:

Drop-in advising: April 5, 12 and 19 from 1 to 3 p.m.
Schedule an advising appointment
Attend an ENVD class registration event

On April 12 at 5:15 pm (MST), the Emerging Leaders Program and Peer Advising Team will walk through every requirement you need, things to consider, and ensure all holds are lifted on your account so that you are prepared to register for fall 2021.

A Zoom link will be provided at a later date.

In order to register for classes you must:

Meet with an advisor and ensure all holds have been lifted–this event counts as an advising appointment.
Course alert? A coaching appointment is required before registration can begin–meet with Alex.
Declare your major if you haven’t already–you can do that in this event with an advisor.

The Program in Environmental Design is pleased to announce that Dylan West, assistant director of advising & first-year experience, has been awarded Outstanding Administrator or Leader from the Academic Advising & Coaching Community Advising Excellence Awards. Alex Harper, academic coach, Roberto deMata, professional academic advisor, and Nate Jones, assistant director of advising & professional development, were runners-up.

Each year, the CU Boulder Advising Council and the Office of Undergraduate Education recognizes the efforts that individuals, teams or units make in providing excellent service in helping students achieve academic success. This year, five advising staff from the Program in Environmental Design Center for Advising and Student Achievement were nominated at the campus level for their accomplishments in their positions.

It’s registration time, and fall 2019 course schedule information is now available!

New Environmental Design curriculum guides are available as a downloadable pdf on the ENVD website. You may also pick up a hard copy of the guides in the front office. Be sure to select the sheet that matches your grade-level and major. Please note that the credits required for degree completion has not changed, however, the specific courses to meet those requirements may look different.

If you are currently taking ENVD 1102, and a rising sophomore, follow the green curriculum guides.
If you are currently taking ENVD 2130, and a rising junior, follow the blue curriculum guides.
If you are currently taking ENVD 3330 (praxis), and a rising senior, follow the red curriculum guides.
If you are currently studying abroad, work closely with your advisor to plan your class schedule for fall 2019.

Some students have academic paths that look different than what the curriculum has listed. Please work closely with your advisor if you have questions on how these changes may apply to your academic career.

Finding new classes
When you are searching for design courses, you may need to search the subject codes ENVD, ARCH, LAND, PLAN, or EPOD. Not all design courses will be listed under ENVD as in previous semesters. Your studio course will be found in one of the four major codes: ARCH, LAND, PLAN or EPOD.

Meet with an advisor
Between April 1 and April 19, 15-minute drop-in advising appointments will be available Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can check-in at the front office, in ENVD 168. The drop-in meetings are meant to address quick fall or summer course registration questions.

You can also make an appointment with your advisor through MyCUHub.

As you begin registering for your fall 2019 classes, refer to this article when selecting your curriculum guides and ENVD electives. Don't hesitate to reach out to your advisor with any questions you may have. Between April 1 and April 19, 15-minute drop-in advising appointments will be available Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
