Right Here, Right Now Global Climate Summit 2025

In 2025, the University of Oxford will co-host a global summit on climate change and human rights, alongside UN Human Rights and the Right Here, Right Now Global Climate Alliance.

With support from the International Universities Climate Alliance, and collaboration from the and co-host universities around the world, we are excited to bring you this important hybrid event. Stay tuned for updates on the summit.

In December 2022, the inaugural Right Here, Right Now Global Climate Summit addressed the interconnectedness of human rights and climate change. CU Boulder held the inaugural Right Here, Right Now Global Climate Summit, which gathered some of the world's foremost human rights, scientific, political, educational, cultural and industry leaders to outline and commit to specific actions addressing the harmful effects of climate change on human rights.

Summit 2022

The first day of the global climate summit framed climate change within the context of human rights: how all people, especially people and populations in vulnerable situations, are experiencing the most extreme effects of climate change, resulting in loss of land, livelihood and universal human rights.

Day 1 Recap and Videos 

The second day of the summit focused on the obligations of each area of civil society to address climate change and human rights. Areas of civil society include government, business and industry, education, and individuals.

Day 2 Recap and Videos 

The final day of the global climate summit explored climate solutions, including youth activism, education, policy and Indigenous peoples’ traditional knowledge. We ended the summit with viable ways to adopt a human rights-based approach to climate solutions.
