Education: PhD, Yale University, 1995
Research Interests:ÌýÌýMy research focuses on stereotyping, prejudice and discrimination,Ìýparticularly with regard to underlying subtle or implicit (automatic)Ìýprocesses that underlie such events. We use laboratory studies toÌýisolate basic processes and field research to better understand howÌýbias and discriminationÌýoperate in real-world settings.
In recent years, my attention has been captured by the problem ofÌýdisparities in health care, and the extent to which social biases may contribute to the problem. IÌýwork with an interdisciplinary group ofÌýscientists and practitioners to better understand the role of social biasÌýin primary care, emergency care, and specialty care.
