SLS routinely solicits feedback from clients because we want to know if we helped and if we could do things better. Immediately below are some responses students and their families have taken the time to write.

   This is an excellent and extremely important service which should be expanded if anything.

   I really appreciate this service and it was amazing service received from John Sirkis. He had read and prepared beforehand and already had a plan for me based on the detailed explanation I wrote on the registering questions. It helped me a lot.

   The SLS team helped me feel comfortable in their office in a time when I was otherwise very stressed out. They clarified the legal issue I was facing and helped me understand what steps I needed to take. I feel very grateful to have had the opportunity to utilize this service, as it made the whole process much easier and less stressful, and will be certain to recommend SLS to any students I know that could benefit from it.

   I was overwhelmed with my situation but Jason made me comfortable to confront and help me with my case.

   Helped a lot and made me prepared for my court date.

   Denean was absolutely wonderful to work with. I felt completely underwater ahead of our meeting, but just speaking with her about my potential options was so reassuring. It honestly helped me feel empowered in an otherwise pretty alienating situation.

   Student Legal Services was AMAZING. I was in a really tough spot, and they absolutely saved me. Jason was incredible, explained everything, and was really supportive throughout the whole process. I strongly recommend getting help from Student Legal Services and/or Jason Sharman.

   Jason was very helpful in both the court and student conduct processes. It is great that this program exists for students and is [so inexpensive].

  It's a really scary feeling to know that you could potentially be suspended from your university...I found myself in this precarious situation with very little faith that things would be okay...My friends spoke so highly of you and after our first consultation, I knew that I was in the right hands...Thank you for working endlessly to help me[,] witholding any judgment and supporting me unconditionally.

  I have never been in trouble with the law [and,] when this happened, I thought I was a goner.    Student Legal Services is one of the most essential groups on campus. It’s sad that not many people know about this service because for me, it was incredibly helpful. The staff is really nice and professional. They don’t judge you or make you feel bad about a mistake you made. Overall a great service. 

   Legal Services helped put my mind at ease about my situation and assisted me with the necessary steps to remedy my situation. 

   Denean Hill is a great attorney! She gave me great advices when I was dealing with my situation.

   My Student Legal Services advisor was named Denean and was insanely helpful! She was the best and provided more than enough help! Super nice and super funny as well! 

   This is SUCH an essential service.

   I just wanted to reach out to thank you for your legal services...You represented me in a felony case that was dropped and sealed through participation in the diversion program...This would not have been possible without your counsel and hard work...Thank you for all you do and the impact you made on my somewhat rocky road to where I am today.

   The student legal service has been the most helpful ever since I came to CU Boulder. It helps me focus more on the daily things I have to deal with (schoolwork, household chores, etc). And lessen my anxiety. Thank you so so so much for being available.

   This has been one of the best services on CU campus that I have ever accessed. Marcel Bigsby was incredibly on top of it, following up to make sure I accessed the services I need. Denean Hill built great rapport, offered invaluable help, and helped me navigate one of the toughest situations I have been through.

  Quick time frame to schedule an appointment and to meet with someone. Was able to communicate with me in a form I could understand and weighed my options.

  Denean knew exactly how to handle my case, even though it didn’t take place in Boulder court. She was very informative and incredibly helpful. She did a great job handling my case and helped me achieve the result I had hoped for.

  He helped me through everything even emotionally, and guided me on how to handle legal issues.

  Denean understood the employment contract that I was asking for help checking, and was able to explain to me in a clear way. She makes the hard language easy for me to understand.

  He was very knowledgeable and easy to understand. I appreciated his patience and attentive listening.

  She was very friendly and made me feel very comfortable and answered every question I had for her.

  He gave me all the information I needed for my case plus extra helpful info.

  He was more helpful than a private attorney. I went to a few other attorneys before coming to him, and they all basically agreed that I was in serious legal trouble and there was no reason to fight the case. He helped me realize the unfairness of the situation. It was a relief having an attorney with such a positive outlook and so much experience dealing with student DUI cases in Boulder County.

  His legal knowledge, solely, won my case for me.

  My experience with CU Legal Services could not have been any more satisfying. Denean's legal advice was incredibly competent, and she was rather professional and comforting every step of the way. I had complete trust in her recommendations, and having her help me with my case allowed me to focus on my studies. I have come out of these series of events as a more understanding, mature, and responsible individual. I have immense gratitude for Denean, and the CU legal services office.

  I was very impressed with the help that I received from student legal services. He was professional and empathetic with my situation. I feel that he brought his "A" game to my hearing and help me to succeed with an issue that was distracting me from my studies. Now I am able to concentrate once again on my research.

  My discussion with the lawyer was very helpful.  He explained the legal definitions and processes and answered all of my questions.  It seemed to me that he is familiar with all of the applicable laws and he seemed well acquainted with the nuances of the human side of the plea bargain process.  Talking with him, I understand this subset of the legal system better.  This case has been a burden for me mentally.  Having talked with Legal Services, I am able to put my questions to rest and I believe I will be able to focus more on my studies, and all other aspects of my life.   I was very happy with the service I received from Student Legal Services. From meetings to courtroom proceedings I felt that I was very well represented throughout my legal situation. I was explained everything that I did not understand throughout the ordeal. Being represented by Student Legal Services reduced my concern about the issue while I went to school. I would most definitely recommend Denean Hill to anybody seeking legal advice/representation.

  He was absolutely competent and professional.  I was made completely aware of the legal ramifications of my actions, court scenarios, and legal issues related to my incident. He went out of his way to explain in detail how things would most likely work out with my case. He was very helpful and clear with all of my questions and working through my paperwork. Furthermore, he was very helpful in guiding me to find appropriate community service for my issue, and also proved very helpful from long distance, as we kept in contact via over the summer.  He also did address the importance of focusing on studies and staying out of legal trouble in the future.  Lastly, I was satisfied with the outcome of my case, and yes, I felt very welcome and I was treated with respect at your legal office.   The legal help I received was extremely competent and professional at all times. I received more information than I expected to gain. My rights/duties were clearly understood by myself and if I ever had a questions the CU legal staff answered it clearly and made sure I understood the answer. During the entire legal proceeding, the legal assistance ensured me that they were handling everything and that I had nothing to worry about. Because of their professional legal assistance I was able to keep my GPA over a 3.0. I was extremely satisfied with the outcome of my legal case. I did not expect the outcome to be as good as it is. The legal services I received was the best I could have received from anywhere in the state. I am so blessed that a friend recommended the Student Legal Services to me. I did not feel ANY issue of insensitivity from the legal services office.

  Your help with my legal problem was not only competent and professional, but student friendly and effective. I acquainted myself with new terms like "deffered sentences, convictions, plea bargain offers, probation officer" thanks to Student Legal Services. Your legal assistance helped me focus on school once the court dates had ceased to an end. (which is in full credit to Student Legal Services) I am satisfied, happy, relived with the outcome of my case. The office was never insensitive, but thoughtful and careful.   Deanna [Denean] is amazing and helped with every part of the process and was able to maintain great professionalism while keeping the situation calm and as relaxed as possible. I know that I couldn't have had the result that I have without her help. Al at Student Conduct and Deanna [Denean] were able to explain the situation to me (I received a DWAI) and the process-- both areas that I was terrified of because I had never been in trouble before. Every question I had was met with a great answer. The steps were all explained thoroughly and I was able to find some calm during the time before the court hearing, during, and after. This happened during summer and I was not attending class. I am completely satisfied. People have been shocked by the outcome. The office was great and I felt no judgement for being there. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Working with CU Student Legal Services made all of this so much better.

  I found the help to be very professional and competent. I found comfort in the knowledgeable staff. After meeting with Student Legal Services, I came away with a more fluid understanding of the legal system, and my rights in certain situations. I found comfort in the experience of the attorney, thus allowing me to alleviate my stress and ultimately focus on school. I was relatively satisfied with the outcome of my legal case. Although it was not the best outcome, it was realistic. Everyone in the office was accomodating and welcoming when I came in. I'd just like to say thank you to all of the staff employed at the Office of Legal Services. I found their services to be very helpful and informative. Furthermore, as an "indigent" student, I greatly appreciated the affordable price. I hope this will be our last interaction.
