Colorado High School Students to Attend
Women in Engineering Career Day at CU-Boulder March 1
°µÍø½ûÇø 150 high school women, parents and counselors from throughout Colorado will attend the Career Day program sponsored by the Women in Engineering Program at the University of Colorado at Boulder on Saturday, March 1.
The goal of the all-day program is to expose young women to the interesting and rewarding field of engineering through hands-on activities and interaction with female students and professional engineers. During the morning, students, parents and counselors will attend panel discussions and other sessions aimed at inspiring the students to pursue an engineering career.
Students and adults are scheduled to attend various hands-on demonstrations of engineering technology from 1:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Demonstrations developed by engineering faculty will show DNA fingerprinting, laser depiction of fluid dynamics and the affect of physical loads on a truss support, among other topics.
Participants will convene in the Engineering Center Lobby at 1:15 p.m. and break into small groups before attending a series of three demonstrations. Each demonstration will take 30 minutes, with starting times set for 1:30 p.m., 2:15 p.m. and 3 p.m. Demonstrations will be held throughout the Engineering Center complex, including the new Discovery Learning Center and the award-winning Integrated Teaching and Learning Laboratory.
A complete list of demonstrations will be available in the Engineering Center lobby throughout the afternoon. The Engineering Center is located on the southwest corner of Colorado Avenue and Regent Drive on the Boulder campus.
