MEDIA ADVISORY

Security will be tight for a talk by Professor Ward Churchill currently scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 8, at the University Memorial Center on the Boulder campus of the University of Colorado.

The talk, titled "Ward Churchill Speaks On His Book: Real Academic Discourse Outside the Filter of the Media," is scheduled at 7 p.m. according to the group planning the event, called "CU Students, Staff and Faculty in Support of Ward Churchill." The talk is planned for the Glenn Miller Ballroom in the UMC. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

CU Police and UMC officials planning logistics for the talk have provided the following guidelines for people planning to attend:

* No backpacks, fanny packs or bags will be allowed inside the ballroom. Purses will be allowed but will be searched. Police advise against bringing packs, purses and other belongings to the talk.

* Metal detectors will be used to screen all members of the audience before entering the ballroom.

* Signs will be allowed in the ballroom but they cannot be mounted on sticks or poles. Only paper or cardboard signs with no stick or pole support will be allowed. Signs will be restricted to the back of the room.

Media and public parking information will be made available next week.
