The University of Colorado at Boulder's physics department will continue its Saturday Physics Series with a presentation on the properties of light on Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. in Duane Physics room G1B30.
Physics Associate Professor Daniel Dessau will present his talk on "The Hundredth Anniversary of Einstein's Quantum of Light: Particles, Waves and Uncertainty." The presentation is free and open to the public.
During the show, he will discuss the principles of quantum mechanics first outlined by Albert Einstein in his "miraculous year" of 1905, during which he also developed his theory of special relativity. Dessau also will discuss how waves of light may act like individual particles, how particles such as electrons may behave like waves and why this means certain things can't be known with absolute certainty.
The Saturday Physics Series is intended for Colorado high school students, teachers and adults. For more information call (303) 492-4318.
