More than 100 students from four state university campuses will promote higher education at a news conference Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 11 a.m. on the west steps of the state Capitol as part of a campaign in support of higher education in Colorado.

The coalition has designated Wednesday "I Love Higher Education Day" and has planned several events in Denver around that theme.

At the news conference, officials from Fort Collins, Boulder and two campus governing boards are expected to join the students including CU Regent Michael Carrigan, Fort Collins Mayor Ray Martinez, Boulder City Manager Frank Bruno and members of the CSU Board of Trustees.

Student government speakers are expected to include Katie Clausen, CSU president; Joe Neguse, CU-Boulder tri-executive; Andra Zeppelin, CU-Denver president; and Donald Hoye, UNC, vice president of legislative affairs.

The student-initiated coalition includes members from the University of Colorado, Colorado State University and the University of Northern Colorado.
