The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Resource Center at the University of Colorado at Boulder will celebrate its 10th anniversary on April 13 with speakers, awards and an interactive presentation on the center's history.
The event, "Celebrating a Decade of Discovery: Change, Challenge, Courage," will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Koenig Alumni Center. It is free and open to the public but reservations are required.
"The center's first five years were about getting it up and running and gaining support," said Stephanie Wilenchek, director of the center. "The focus in the past five years has been on developing programming, as well as outreach to transgender and minority students."
Also speaking will be Joanne Arnold, professor emerita of journalism and mass communication; Bud Coleman, associate professor and chair of the department of theatre and dance; and Karen Raforth, former assistant director of the CU-Boulder counseling center and now interim vice president for student services at Metropolitan State College of Denver. All three were instrumental in the development of the center.
