The School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Colorado at Boulder has awarded three doctoral dissertation fellowships in media, religion and culture for the 2005-06 academic year.
The three recipients are Katherine Meizel, department of music, University of California, Santa Barbara; Joon Seong Lee, telecommunications, Ohio University; and Emily Zeamer, social anthropology department, Harvard University.
Each fellow will receive a $12,000 stipend from Lilly Endowment Inc. in Indianapolis. The fellowships are awarded in an international competition open to doctoral students working in the areas of media, religion and culture.
The fellows will participate in two master seminars. The first will take place at the American Academy of Religion Annual Conference in Philadelphia in November and the second, coordinated by CU-Boulder journalism Professor Stewart Hoover and Assistant Research Professor Lynn Schofield Clark, will be held at CU-Boulder in February.
