The University of Colorado Real Estate Council's 2006 conference -- "A Whole Lot of Shakin' Goin' On!" -- will be held Wednesday, March 1, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center.
Co-presented by the CU-Boulder Leeds School of Business and the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, the annual conference will offer commentary by national and local experts on the national and local outlook for real estate and capital markets.
"We wanted the title of this year's conference to have several meanings," said Byron Koste, director of the CU-Boulder Real Estate Center. "It's meant to imply that there is a great amount of deal making going on and a lot of building, but at the same time some people believe there may be some shaking of the underpinnings of the real estate industry."
At 9:15 a.m., Dave Esrig, director of research at JPMorgan Asset Management, will present his economic forecast for 2006. Esrig is a nationally known speaker on economic issues in the real estate industry. His presentation will be followed by a discussion of capital markets with Rick Pederson of the Ross Consulting Group and Jim Curtis of the Bristol Group.
Toni Alexander, president of InterCommunications Inc., a company specializing in branding and image building for luxury hotels and resorts, will give the keynote address during the conference luncheon. She is well known for her pioneering work combining real estate development and sales and psychographics -- identifying people's activities, interests and opinions. She also is author of the book "The Art of Real Estate 1984-2004." After Alexander's presentation, the CU Real Estate Council will present its "Person of the Year" award.
Afternoon sessions will include concurrent panel discussions about mixed-use/transit-oriented development, and multi-family, office and industrial markets.
The cost is $75 for CU Real Estate Council members and $175 for nonmembers. The conference will offer eight hours of continuing education credits to all-day attendees for a $45 fee.
