Several speakers will be on the University of Colorado at Boulder campus May 11-12 to speak at special recognition ceremonies for spring graduates.
Most CU-Boulder schools and colleges will hold recognition ceremonies for their graduates in addition to the main university commencement ceremony on Friday, May 12, at 8:30 a.m. in Folsom Stadium.
Following is a schedule of special events in the schools and colleges.
o College of Architecture and Planning recognition ceremony, Thursday, May 11, at 3 p.m. on the Duane Physics lawn. A reception will follow in the Environmental Design Building, room 134.
o Leeds School of Business undergraduate recognition ceremony, Thursday, May 11, at 4:30 p.m. in the Coors Events/Conference Center.
o School of Education recognition ceremony, Thursday, May 11, at 5:30 p.m. in Macky Auditorium. Richard Garcia, a member of the Colorado Commission on Higher Education, will be the speaker.
o College of Engineering and Applied Science recognition ceremony, Thursday, May 11, at 8 p.m. in the Coors Events/Conference Center. William Caile, a distinguished engineer and CU-Boulder alumnus, will be the speaker.
o Graduate School reception, Friday, May 12, immediately following the main university commencement ceremony at the CU Museum of Natural History in the Henderson Building.
o School of Journalism and Mass Communication recognition ceremony, Thursday, May 11, at 2 p.m. in Macky Auditorium. Kevin Carroll, a nationally known author and consultant, will be the speaker.
o School of Law recognition ceremony, Friday, May 12, at 11:30 a.m. in Macky Auditorium. A reception will follow at 1 p.m. on the Norlin Quadrangle. Karen Mathis, president-elect of the American Bar Association and CU-Boulder alumnus, will be the speaker.
o College of Music recognition ceremony, Thursday, May 11, at 3 p.m. in the Imig Music Building's Grusin Music Hall. Thurston Manning, former vice president for academic affairs and vice president for research and planning at CU-Boulder, will be the speaker.
Many departments in the College of Arts and Sciences also will hold events to recognize their graduates. Many events may not be open to the public, and in some cases tickets may be required. Contact individual departments for further information.
