Seven University of Colorado at Boulder graduate specialty programs were ranked in the top 25 nationally in the new but limited U.S. News & World Report annual graduate school rankings.

The CU-Boulder School of Law's environmental law specialty program was ranked fourth in the nation in 2007, up five spots from 2006, while the specialty program of physical chemistry ranked 10th in the country. Other CU-Boulder specialty programs ranked in the top 25 this year included business entrepreneurship (tied for 13th), aerospace engineering (tied for 16th), chemical engineering (19th), environmental engineering (tied for 21st) and civil engineering (tied for 24th).

In addition, CU-Boulder's mechanical engineering program was tied for 33rd, computer engineering was tied for 37th and electrical engineering was tied for 40th nationally. The 2008 edition of U.S. News & World Report's America's Best Graduate Schools was scheduled to arrive on newsstands April 2.

CU-Boulder professional school rankings this year include the School of Law (tied for 36th, up from 43rd in 2006), the School of Education (tied for 38th, up from 43rd in 2006) and the College of Engineering and Applied Science (40th). In addition, the CU-Boulder doctoral program in chemistry was tied for 28th in the nation and the doctoral program in biological sciences was ranked 33rd.

Professional school programs in education, engineering, law, business and medicine were newly ranked in 2007, as were doctoral programs in the biological sciences, chemistry and graduate programs in several health fields. Not all disciplines are newly ranked each year.
