The University of Colorado at Boulder has announced three semifinalists for the position of vice chancellor for diversity, equity and community engagement to fill the newly created position.

The semifinalists include Sallye McKee, associate to the president for institutional diversity at Metropolitan State College of Denver; Paulette Granberry Russell, senior advisor to the president for diversity and director of the Office for Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives at Michigan State University, East Lansing, Mich.; and Thomas Windham, senior advisor for Science and Engineering Workforce at the National Science Foundation's Office of the Director in Arlington, Va.

Campus visits by the candidates will begin with Windham in mid-June followed by Russell in late June and McKee in early July.

In addition to his post at the National Science Foundation, Windham served as the director and principal investigator in the Significant Opportunities in Atmospheric Research and Science, or SOARS, program at the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research, UCAR, in Boulder from 1996 to 2004. He is a practiced psychologist and has previously served as director for pupil services and dropout prevention in the Boulder Valley School District.

Windham received his bachelor's degree in psychology from New Mexico Highlands University, his master's degree in psychology from New Mexico Highlands University and his doctorate in psychology from CU-Boulder. He also received an Ed.S. degree in administration, supervision and curriculum development from the University of Colorado at Denver.

Windham's campus interviews are scheduled for June 18 and June 19.

Russell is the senior advisor to the president for diversity and director of the Office for Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives at Michigan State University. She also is a counselor and attorney-at-law and has professional experience as a labor relations specialist and employee relations representative.

Russell received her bachelor's degree in political science and public administration from Michigan State University and her law degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School. She is a member of the state bar in Michigan. Her interview is scheduled for June 25 through June 26.

McKee is the associate to the president for institutional diversity at Metropolitan State College of Denver and has held professional appointments in the broad area of diversity at East Carolina University, University of Minnesota, University of Denver, Bowling Green University and CU-Boulder.

McKee received her bachelor's degree in French and secondary education with honors from Morris Brown College, her master's in elementary education from the University of Chicago and her doctorate in curriculum and instruction/educational psychology from the University of Minnesota. Her interview is scheduled for July 2 through July 3.
