A smorgasbord of culturally diverse food and music will highlight the University of Colorado at Boulder's annual Global Jam festival on Aug. 24.
Sponsored by the Department of Housing and Dining Services, Global Jam will be held on Farrand Field following the 11:30 a.m. mandatory convocation given by Chancellor G.P. "Bud" Peterson to all new students in Folsom Stadium.
This year's festival includes Mediterranean, African, Bavarian and Asian food and music. The menu includes banana-wrapped striped bass topped with charmoula and Moroccan eggplant with garbanzo beans from Africa; barbeque pork bao with plum sauce and vegetable lo mein from Asia; gyros on pita bread with tzatziki sauce and tofu and polenta bruchetta from the Mediterranean; and bratwurst with sauerkraut on a hoagie bun and seitan, rice and cabbage kraut burgers from Bavaria.
The Denver salsa band Quemando will entertain attendees throughout the event.
Global Jam is free for CU-Boulder students who have residence hall meal plans, and costs $6 for the rest of the student community and guests. Attendance at the event, excluding food, is free and open to the public.
