University of Colorado at Boulder Chancellor G.P. “Bud” Peterson today named Ron Stump, vice chancellor for student affairs at CU-Boulder, as interim executive director of the University of Colorado Alumni Association, effective Feb. 4.

“I am calling upon one of CU-Boulder’s most able and talented administrators to fill this vital post,” said Peterson. “Ron’s 12 years of experience improving student life at CU-Boulder and his close interactions with the alumni association during that time give him the instincts and networks necessary to lead it while we seek a new alumni executive.”

Earlier this year, the alumni association was transferred from the University of Colorado Foundation to the University of Colorado at Boulder. The move was designed to provide key benefits to both alumni and the university through better collaboration.

Peterson said the timing of a search for a permanent individual to fill the position will be done in consultation with the University of Colorado Alumni Association Board of Directors and the alumni association staff.

Stump replaces Kent Zimmerman, who has served as president and CEO of the alumni association since 1996 and who recently announced his departure from the post. Stump will retain his vice chancellor responsibilities while serving as alumni executive director, with a few changes in his responsibilities.

“Kent’s energy, vision and leadership have been instrumental in making our Alumni Association the wonderful organization it is,” said Stump. “I am delighted to have the opportunity to work more closely with this great group of people and to help build upon Kent’s many achievements.”
