Public meeting times for CU president candidate Bruce Benson to meet with faculty, staff and students at the University of Colorado at Boulder will be held on the afternoon of Monday, Feb. 4.

CU-Boulder alumnus, businessman, philanthropist and Republican Party leader Bruce Benson was named the sole candidate for CU president at a night meeting of the Board of Regents on Wednesday. Benson is scheduled to meet with faculty, staff and students on each of the CU campuses during the next week.

Benson's public meetings at CU-Boulder include an open forum for faculty, staff and students at 2 p.m. Monday at the University Memorial Center, room 235. The forum, scheduled to end at 3 p.m., will be Benson's fourth meeting in a day of back-to-back meetings but is the first public session on the Boulder campus.

Benson also is scheduled to meet with the Boulder Faculty Assembly from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at the University Memorial Center, room 285, called the Aspen Room.

Earlier on Monday, Benson will meet with CU-Boulder Chancellor G.P. "Bud" Peterson and the chancellor's cabinet in a private meeting. He then will meet with Boulder campus deans from noon to 1 p.m. in a private luncheon, and with the chancellor's executive committee, associate vice chancellors and the staff council in a private meeting at 1:15 p.m. at the UMC Aspen Room.

Benson is scheduled to meet with state legislators from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday before driving to Boulder.
