The University of Colorado at Boulder will host two events on Saturday, Feb. 2, that could adversely affect traffic and parking on campus.
>From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Student Recreation Center, NBC will host tryouts for the competition show "Gladiator." At 1:30 p.m., the CU men's basketball squad will take on Kansas at the Coors Events Center.
CU Police are advising people going to the "Gladiator" tryout to avoid using 28th Street and Colorado Avenue, as well as Baseline Road and Broadway.
The recommended route to the recreation center is via Arapahoe Avenue to either Folsom Street or 17th Street.
>From Denver take U.S. 36 to the first Boulder exit and get on Foothills Parkway, State Highway 157, going north to Arapahoe. Turn left on Arapahoe to Folsom Street and take a left onto Folsom. Look for signs for Lot 169 on the west side of the road. Parking in Lot 169 is free.
Signs also will be posted to direct drivers to the Student Recreation Center. Parking is available for a $3 fee in Lot 380 near the recreation center.
>From Arapahoe Avenue go south on 17th Street. Turn left at the top of the hill. Staff members at the gate will direct you to parking Lot 380. Look for signs directing to you to the recreation center.
