The Mile High Chapter of the American Red Cross and the University of Colorado at Boulder will open an emergency service center on Sunday, July 13 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the CU Recreation Center, conference rooms 3 and 4, to assist CU and Boulder community members affected by Saturday's fire at the Hill House apartment complex at 9th and Marine Streets.
At the service center, residents of the complex can learn what community and CU resources are available to them and ask basic questions of City, Red Cross and CU officials. The fire is believed to have displaced at least 50 residents, an indeterminate number of which are CU students. Boulder fire officials are investigating and it is not yet known when or if the apartment structure will re-open.
The University of Colorado Recreation Center is located on the north end of the CU-Boulder campus, accessible via University Avenue and Macky Drive. It sits directly west of Folsom Field and directly east of Sewall Hall and Macky Auditorium. The Recreation Center's phone number is 303-492-2652.
NOTE TO THE MEDIA: If you wish to obtain an interview with CU officials following the meeting, contact CU spokesman Bronson Hilliard at 303-818-7496. City officials may be contacted by contacting Sarah Huntley at the City of Boulder at 303-441-3370. Any meetings between victims of the fire and CU or city officials are considered closed to the media to protect the privacy of victims.
