No one knows better than Steve Forbes that money makes the world go around. Now the president and CEO of Forbes Inc. will offer some advice on the topic and share some insight into global economies and consumer culture at a Dec. 9 speech at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Forbes' speech, "Money Makes the World Go Round: Economic Structure and Culture in a Globalized World," is sponsored by the CU-Boulder Cultural Events Board and is open to the public. Forbes will speak at Macky Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. and doors will open at 6:45 p.m. Tickets are $1 for CU students and $10 for the public and will be available at the UMC Connection, Ticketswest.com and at King Soopers locations.

Forbes is the editor-in-chief of the highly acclaimed Forbes magazine, a business and finance publication with nearly 5 million readers worldwide. He is former chairman of the board for International Broadcasting, or BIB, a capacity in which he served from 1985 to 1993.

Throughout his tenure as BIB chair, he oversaw the operation of Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty -- both of which were regarded by some as critical to the struggle against communism. Forbes is a board member for a number of prestigious foundations and is the author of "A New Birth of Freedom."

Forbes has also delved into politics, campaigning for the 1996 and 2000 Republican nominations for the presidency.

Forbes will talk about the structure and culture of global economies at the CU-Boulder event. His speech will include a discussion on consumer culture, the intertwined reliance of today's national economies and the role economic superpowers and emerging superpowers play in shaping the global economic structure of the future.

The Cultural Events Board promotes and assists in the development of cultural, intercultural and informational programs that educate, stimulate and espouse the diversity of people and the broadening of perspectives, providing opportunities that result in respect and understanding for cultural differences.
