The University of Colorado at Boulder will celebrate Asia Day, a one-day festival hosted by the CU Center for Asian Studies to celebrate the diverse cultures and traditions of Asia and to share CU-Boulder's Asian area expertise with the broader Front Range community.

The event will be held on Saturday, March 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Eaton Humanities building. The event is free and open to public.

Among many other fun events, Asia Day will feature Asian food, performances of Asian music and dance and hands-on workshops including calligraphy, flower arranging and a tea ceremony. There will also be basic language lessons in Farsi, Hindi and Tibetan, presentations on energy use in China, the Boulder-Dushanbe sister city project and a poetry recitation. These and other activities will showcase the cultures of Japan, China, India, Indonesia and Tajikistan.

CU-Boulder's Center for Asian Studies is one of only three National Resource Centers for Asian Studies nationwide, and is funded and supported by U.S. Department of Education and Freeman Foundation grants. The center seeks to encourage and support Asian scholarship on campus at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and to promote awareness about Asia in the broader Front Range community through events such as Asia Day.
