The University of Colorado at Boulder will host the 19th annual International Festival on Saturday, April 11, from 4 to 10 p.m. in the University Memorial Center's Glenn Miller Ballroom.

The festival is free and open to the public and will feature 27 booths highlighting the traditions and customs of countries and regions including Pakistan, Panama, Russia, Nepal, Scotland, China, Korea, Brazil, Turkey and East Africa.

Festival visitors can enjoy food samples such as green curry with rice from Thailand, tabbouleh from Kuwait, jollof rice from West Africa and Arabian coffee from Saudi Arabia.

Visitors also can watch performances that will include belly dancing, Taiko drumming from Japan, singers from Mexico, a Chinese lion dance and Irish, Indian and Saudi dancers.

Students representing 17 countries formed a committee to organize this year's event, according to CU-Boulder senior Balnur Zhaleleva, International Festival committee co-chair.

"The International Festival is one of the most popular spring events at CU-Boulder," Zhaleleva said. "Various nationalities come together, celebrate and promote the diversity on campus. It is educational, entertaining and most of all a delight to all those who participate."
