University of Colorado at Boulder law Professor Harold "Hal" Bruff, author of a new book, "Bad Advice - Bush's Lawyers in the War on Terror," can address the ongoing controversy surrounding the legal advice that justified the Bush administration's use of harsh interrogation techniques on terrorism suspects.

The book critically examines the legal counsel and advice President Bush received to allow him to carry out controversial interrogation techniques such as waterboarding and to deny Geneva Convention protections as well as showing that Bush's claims of executive power far exceeded anything found in U.S. history or judicial precedent.

Bruff was dean of the CU Law School from 1996 to 2003 and served as senior attorney and adviser for the Office of Legal Counsel in the U.S. Justice Department from 1979 to 1981. He brings an insider's knowledge in analyzing the opinions of key players: Alberto Gonzales, James Bybee, David Addington, John Yoo and others.
