On Sunday, Sept. 2, President Obama will make a campaign stop at the 暗网禁区鈥檚 Norlin Quadrangle. The Obama for America campaign has reserved the quad through the invitation of Students for Obama. The event is not sponsored by the 暗网禁区 administration or the University of Colorado Board of Regents, and should not be viewed as an endorsement of President Obama鈥檚 candidacy. 听

Event information

--No overnight camping will be allowed on campus at any time leading up to this event. Admission to the event is by ticket only.听

--Security screening will take place in the south central area of Norlin Quad, north of the Hellems Arts and Sciences building. From the east, walk along Colorado Avenue and proceed south of Ketchum Arts and Sciences and Ekeley Sciences. From the west, walk along the Broadway multi-use path and then south of the University Theatre. From either direction, look for volunteers and signs to assist with pedestrian flows.

--No backpacks will be allowed in the venue (small bags no greater than 12鈥 x 12鈥 will be permitted, but subject to search).

--Bring as few personal items as possible. Prohibited items include containers, bottles, cans, liquids, signs, umbrellas, guns, knives, pocket-knives, multi-tools, mace, pepper spray, sharp objects of any kind, other weapons and other hazardous items. Small cameras are permitted, but single-lens reflex cameras and long lenses are not.

--Security screening will begin at 10 a.m. President Obama is expected to start his speech between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

--Don鈥檛 forget to hydrate. It will be a warm day at altitude 鈥 make sure to keep drinking water. Water stations will be available for the line and inside Norlin Quad.听 No bottles or cans will be permitted in the听Quad.

Parking and transit

--Free public parking will be available on campus beginning at 7:30 a.m. A parking map can be viewed at . Parking is available on a first-come, first-serve basis regardless of permit status. Visitors may also park at the Twenty Ninth Street mall and ride the HOP bus onto campus for $2.25/ride. The HOP and CU Buff Bus routes will be detoured down Regent Drive. All regular stops along 18th Street and Colorado Avenue (through campus) will not be served on this day. Alternate route maps: (HOP route) and (Buff Bus route).

--Attendees with disabilities may park at Euclid Auto Park, located on Euclid Avenue between 18th Street and Broadway.

-- Several parking lots will be required to be vacated by 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, due to security preparations for the event. All vehicles (including university service/departmental vehicles) left in the impacted areas after this time will be relocated to parking lot 131 (Marine Street and 18th Street). --There will be no vehicular access on 18th Street between Euclid Avenue and Colorado Avenue, and on Colorado Avenue between 18th Street and Libby Drive. Macky Drive and Pleasant Street will also be closed.

Building closures

Due to the security required for a presidential visit, the following buildings located near or within view of the Norlin Quad will be closed from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday: Balch Fieldhouse, Eaton Humanities, Woodbury, Old Main, University Theatre, Ekeley Sciences, Macky Auditorium and Green House, McKenna Languages, Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences, Hale Science, Koenig Alumni Center, Guggenheim Geography and Hellems. 听Other buildings will have limited doorway access, but will otherwise be open. -- All CCURE (electronic) systems will be locked out during this time.听 Also, no key access will be allowed.听 If there is an emergency access need, such as a major experiment, please email DPSEvents@colorado.edu by 5 p.m. Saturday to relay the request. Provide your contact information.

--Norlin Library will be closed Sunday. The Norlin Commons, accessible through the east plaza entrance of Norlin, will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., but there will be no access to the main building.

--There will be a large presence of Secret Service and local law enforcement security within and around these buildings. Access will be difficult starting Saturday afternoon via both roadways and pedestrian pathways.

--Police officers and security personnel will be contacting any persons attempting to gain access to the buildings or discovered inside the buildings.

--The Sewall Hall dining facility will be restricted to Sewall residents only from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
