Work-life balance is a hot topic across the nation. We all strive to balance the demands of our jobs with the lives we lead outside of work hours, and look for support especially when these demands on our time are in direct conflict. Programs like and from give university personnel and graduate students access to resources for finding this support.

Sittercity is an online platform that connects you to pre-screened babysitters, nannies, elder care providers, tutors, pet care providers and housekeeping services. The university pays for your membership to this service. You hire and negotiate the fee for any provider you use.

As the holidays approach, you might consider Sittercity to help you find part-time babysitters, last-minute care and even school holiday care.Caregiver profiles feature background checks, references and reviews from other members. As part of your Sittercity benefit, you have unlimited background checks available.

CU-Boulder spokesperson and Director of Media Relations Bronson Hilliard is a fan of the service. “It is a great back-up for child and eldercare that has made much-needed resources available to my family,” he said.

The university recognizes that many of our employees are the primary caretakers for their parents and extended family members. You can use your SelectPlus membership and the Years Ahead program to connect you to elder care providers all across the country, not just here in Colorado.

Years Ahead is a nationwide network of high-quality care providers, both in-home and facility-based, and is designed to meet the unique needs of families seeking care. The service also includes licensed Senior Care Advisors to assist you in your search for the right care for your aging loved ones.
