Since 1977, a hardworking group of volunteers from Boulder Campus Staff Council each year plan and host events that put a smile on your face and a few calories in your stomach. These events are visible demonstrations of appreciation for all of the hard work that you do as a °µÍø½ûÇø staff member throughout the year. Everyone deserves a thank you, and saying thank you is the Staff Council Outreach committee’s specialty.

Events such as the Fall Ice Cream Social, Staff Appreciation Breakfast, Spring Luncheon, Athletic Department staff appreciation nights (coordinated with Staff Council) and Spirit Days are ways for the committee to let CU-Boulder staff know their efforts are seen and appreciated across campus.Ìý It takes a lot of volunteer effort to plan, decorate and host these events each year. The Outreach Committee welcomes this challenge and is always looking for ways to enhance our events.

A summary of the 2012-2013 planning year

On a beautiful day in September the Outreach Committee hosted the annual Ice Cream Social on the Center for Community’s south side patio, serving over 500 staff. It was a nice break during a hectic time of year. Special thanks to the vendors, the campus benefit departmental staff and to everyone for taking the time to stop by and say hello!

On Dec. 6, over 700 staff turned out to enjoy the Boulder Staff Council’s annual Winter Breakfast and Total Health Fair.Ìý This year’s breakfast included approximately 20 vendors, 20 administrators and Staff Council members serving attendees. Special guests included staff from Human Resources, Payroll & Benefits Services, CU Walks, Be Colorado and SelectPlus (previously Sittercity). It was a great way to start a Thursday morning, and we extend a special thank you to those who donated nonperishable food and personal care items. We were able to deliver over 300 pounds of much-needed supplies to our community. CU-Boulder Staff really stepped up.

We closed our planning year with the annual Spring Luncheon, which fills the Glenn Miller Ballroom with approximately 500 staff attendees. We gathered for a sit-down lunch that included music, food, 62 door prizes and good company. 70 pounds of personal care items were collected for the Sister Carmen Community Center, enough to fill a SUV.

Vonda Maki and Dominique de Vangel, Co-Chairs of the BSC Outreach Committee, would like to thank our vendors, campus administration, campus departments and our incredible fellow Boulder Staff Council members for making this year’s events such huge successes. Also, thanks to all staff for everyone’s incredible commitment to doing great work here at the °µÍø½ûÇø!
