Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano today named 11 members to his Strategic Advisory Council. DiStefano unveiled the council concept last fall at his State of the Campus address, saying it would it help him and the university’s combined leadership to “make innovations in how we serve students, continue to build and sustain our reputation in Colorado and across the nation, identify support for new research collaborations and revise our fiscal and organizational model to maximize effectiveness and efficiency.”

At today’s spring Campus Update Town Hall Meeting at Old Main on the CU-Boulder campus, DiStefano announced the council’s inaugural members:

  • Norman L. Augustine, former Lockheed Martin president and assistant secretary of the Army
  • Dr. Pamela A. Drew, corporate vice president and president of Information Systems Exelis Inc.
  • Brad Feld, entrepreneur, investor and co-founder of the Foundry Group, a venture capital firm
  • Allison M. Keller, executive director and chief financial officer of the W.M. Keck Foundation, a private charitable foundation with over $1 billion in assets
  • Denise M. O’Leary, a private venture capital investor and corporate director
  • William “Bill” N. Reinert, national manager of advanced technology for Toyota Motor Sales, USA
  • Todd Rulon-Miller, founding partner of Apogee Venture Group, an early stage venture investment and consulting firm
  • Mark Sirangelo, corporate vice president, Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) and chairman of SNC Space Systems
  • Robert D. Strain, president of Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp.
  • Philip A. Washington, RTD general manager

DiStefano said he is asking the group of industry leaders to “bring the lessons of transformation from their companies, organizations and firms” to the table to assist CU-Boulder “in its own continued transformation under our Flagship 2030 Strategic Plan.”

“I want to thank this group of diverse and outstanding leaders for devoting their time and for agreeing to serve on the Strategic Advisory Council,” said DiStefano. “Together, I am confident that we can develop new strategies, resources and directions for CU-Boulder in a challenging time, and strengthen the public-private partnerships that helped establish CU-Boulder, and that have sustained it for nearly 140 years.”
