After carefully monitoring the weather and assessing the conditions of the buildings, the evacuation for the Faculty/Staff and Athens Court apartments will be lifted at 6 p.m.
While it is currently safe for residents to return, there are a number of things residents will need to consider before returning. At the current time the Faculty/Staff units are currently experiencing a power outage. The university is diligently working with Xcel to restore power, but the timeline for this is still unknown. In Athens Court, hot water is temporarily unavailable due to the university steam plant being down. There are a number of factors affecting when it will be operational again, and it may be unavailable for an extended period.
As they return, residents are being advised that while the weather is looking favorable, if flash flood conditions return an evacuation order could be reissued.
A Buff Bus will be available at 6 p.m. to transport residents who have been staying in Kittredge Central back to their residences.
