On March 4, 2014 the Glenn Miller Ballroom rang with the sounds of Ragtime piano, swing dancing and happy chatter as nearly 500 classified and university staff enjoyed the 2014 spring luncheon. The ballroom was beautifully decorated in black and red with musical notes accenting the room. The UMC Catering staff provided a delicious lunch of Waldorf salad, roasted chicken, grilled polenta, roast red potatoes, peas and carrots, asparagus spears and chocolate euphoria mousse cake.

In addition to Staff Council members, we were pleased to have Debby Cook and Amy Beckstrom from Housing & Dining Services and athletic coaches Danny Sanchez, Don Trentham and Rebekah Patrick volunteer to serve at the luncheon. Special thanks to Jazz piano Bachelor of Music student Anne Booth, who entertained us with a variety of ragtime songs to which a few of the CU Swing Dance Club members cut the rug!

We would also like to thank our generous community vendors and campus departments who donated a variety of door prizes. One of the best features of the Staff Council spring luncheon was the generosity of our guests, who donated approximately 300 pounds of personal care items for H.O.P.E. (Homeless Outreach Providing Encouragement) in Longmont. Donated items included towels, blankets and sleeping bags. H.O.P.E. was very appreciative of our community’s support.

If you were unable to attend this luncheon, another event for campus staff will be scheduled soon. We hope you’ll join us then!

Thank you,

Dominique DeVangel and Vonda Maki
