Commencement is an important event in the lives of our students and their families. It is the culmination of their academic careers to date and marks their transition in the next phase of life. As the university’s most prominent and dignified academic ceremony of the year, it is essential that it run smoothly and well. Many volunteers work together to ensure that our guests have a positive experience and leave the campus with treasured memories.Ìý

We would like to encourage the university community to support commencement and participate in the ceremony. To that end we would like to announce that all staff volunteering as commencement marshals for the Saturday, December 20 ceremony, will receive four hours of administrative leave, to be taken in consultation with their department and supervisor. The Office of Employee Relations is available at 303-492-0956 to answer any questions on how to apply the administrative leave.

The Deans and Chancellor’s Executive Committee are in full support this initiative Supervisors are encouraged to work with interested staff to find ways to allow them to be engaged with this important event. Thank you for your support of the winter commencement ceremony.

Sincerely,

Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano and Provost Russell Moore
