On Sept. 9, more than 800 Boulder campus staff turned out to enjoy the Eighth Annual Ice Cream Social, held on the east terrace of C4C. The midday event featured more than 20 vendors and several campus service departments, with a backbeat provided by Brandon Brown, a DJ who works in the Distribution Center. Staff were able to speak with the vendors, listen to some great music and enjoy an ice cream treat. This was a great way to show appreciation for all staff does on the campus and to give everyone a nice break in the middle of the day.
Denise Thomas and Aljoana Gilmore, Co-Chairs of the Boulder Staff Council’s (BCSC) Outreach Committee, would like to thank all our vendors, campus departments and our incredible fellow BCSC members for making this year’s Ice Cream Social a huge success. A special thank you also goes to Marc Roth, Retail Operations Manager, Housing and Dining Services for helping the event go so smoothly.
The BCSC’s Outreach Committee will have a Winter Wear Drive coming up in October, to benefit the American Disabled Veterans Association, The Matthew’s Center, in Denver. Collection barrels will be placed throughout campus to gather winter wear items, to include mittens, hats, scarves, gloves, socks and sweaters. We look forward to all the donations from our CU staff and community.
On another note, with the UMC ballroom being renovated, the Outreach committee had to come up with some different ideas for this year’s events. Look for an outdoor bar-b-que celebration to be held in mid-May. We will bring you more details as it gets closer and we look forward to seeing everyone there.
