The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR) is pleased to announce that Karen Regan, JD, has been appointed as interim assistant vice chancellor for research effective July 27.

Regan, who has been working part time in OVCR since December 2014, brings eight-plus years of research division experience from her work at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. As associate vice chancellor for research at UNC-CH, she oversaw the Offices of Research Development, Research Communications, Postdoctoral Affairs and Federal Government Affairs.ÌýPrior to serving as AVCR, Karen advanced UNC-CH’s federal policy and funding priorities as Director of its Office of Federal Affairs.

A lawyer by training, she possesses a strong understanding of the legal and policy issues in research administration. Having earned the admiration and respect of OVCR staff and a number of research groups on campus, Karen is well-equipped to assist in the upcoming OVCR leadership transition and to lead a wide range of initiatives in support of research.
