Have you seen those safety blue lights around campus? As CU Police Chief Melissa Zak explained last year, those are being phased out, and something new is coming in their place. CU Student Government wants you to know about a new app that you can download to your phone in order to help add another layer of protection and security when you are out and about. It's called LifeLine Response and with your Identikey, you can download it today at no cost, courtesy of your student government.
There are three options to get the app. To download the app, text "LLR4Me" to 74700; in an app store, search "LifeLine Enterprise"; or visitÌý. Once you have the app, open it on your phone andÌýand use your Identikey@colorado.edu email address, and select °µÍø½ûÇø from the list.
Key safety features:
- The app has a blue button that allows you to hold it for any duration of time. If you release your thumb from the blue buttonÌýand don't disarm the app within 10 seconds, you'll hear from a LifeLine dispatch center, which canÌýcall the local police department, if necessary.
- You can alsoÌýset a specific amount of time for a particular activity, after which LifeLine will attempt to contact you.ÌýFor instance, if you go on a 30-minute run, you can set your alarm for that time frame.ÌýIf something happens during that 30 minutes and you are unable to seek help for yourself, LifeLine will respond after that time has run out and seek help from the local police department.
LifeLine is here to help. Think of it as a blue light in your pocket!
