Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Christina Gonzales has namedSandy Jonesas the dean of students. Jones began with the Division of Student Affairs on Aug. 20.
Jones comes to CUBoulder fromtheUniversity of California, Irvine (UCI), where she most recently served as the director of community and local government relations.Previously, she heldseveral student affairs leadership roles at UCI that included advisement of undergraduate and graduate student governments, student media and student organizations.
"With Sandy’s wide-ranging experience in higher education, including theoversight of student activities, studentgovernment andherleadership in crisis communication and government relations, I look forward to her joining the division and bringing a new perspective on how we can best support students,” said Gonzales
Joneslooks forward to workingwith the student affairs leadership team and collaborating with campus partners to develop innovative new programs that both enhance the student experience and support CU's mission to educate the next generation of citizens and leaders.

Jones received abachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California,Los Angeles; a master’s degree in educationin postsecondary administration and student affairs from the University of Southern California; and adoctorate in higher education administration and policy from the University of California, Riverside, where shewas recognizedasa Chancellor’s Distinguished Fellow.
