10 things to do this weekend: ‘Bullet Train,’ extreme bowling, more

This weekend brings a Veterans Day ceremony, an opportunity to explore the night sky, a basketball game, Laser Foo Fighters, “The Importance of Being Earnest,” an end-of-season celebration with the E-Center, “The Drowsy Chaperone” and more.

Friday, Nov. 11

   11 a.m.    UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom
In honor of Veterans Day, the UMC and Veteran and Military Affairs are holding a ceremony. During this time, there will be presentations by Lieutenant General Mark Schwartz, ROTC and CU Buffoons. 

   8 p.m.    CHEM 140
Bullet Trainis a film starring Brad Pitt, Joey King and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. The film follows five assassins on a train who discover their missions all have something in common. 

   8–10 p.m.    Sommers-Bausch Observatory
Explore the night sky with Sommers-Bausch Observatory. The open houses are free and open to the public. 


Saturday, Nov. 12

   2 p.m.    CU Events Center    $10–$12
After taking on New Mexico State, the CU women’s basketball team is playing the Jackson State Tigers. Sko Buffs!

   7 p.m.    CU Events Center    $8–$12
This Saturday, the Buffs are traveling back to Boulder to take on the Oregon State Beavers in a volleyball match. 

   7–10 p.m.    The Connection    $3.50 per game, $2.75 for shoes
Extreme bowling is like regular bowling, but better! Enjoy a night of black lights, colored pins and more.

Laser Foo Fighters

   8:30 p.m.    Fiske Planetarium    $8–$12
Fiske Planetarium is having a unique laser show inspired by the Foo Fighters! Watch the show while enjoying some of their hit songs, including “Best of You” and “All My Life.” 


Sunday, Nov. 13

   2–3:30 p.m.    Scott Carpenter Park
This event is for those of you who have joined the Environmental Center throughout its growing season. There will be free food, crafts, games and prizes! 

   2 p.m.    Imig Music, Music Theatre    $23–$35
The Drowsy Chaperone is a meta-musical that pokes fun at the Jazz Age genre. Unable to make it on Sunday? Other showings are happening Nov. 11–12. 

   2 p.m.    Old Main Chapel    $19
The Importance of Being Earnest is a trivial comedy by Oscar Wilde. It tells the story of four young lovers. Presented by the Department of Theatre & Dance. Showings are also happening Nov.11–12 at 7:30 p.m.
