10 things to do this weekend: Explore the night sky, a movie sneak peek, more

This weekend brings an advance screening of Knock at the Cabin, a CPR training, Sommers-Bausch Observatory open house, shows at Fiske Planetarium, a lifeguard certification course, a student recital, women’s basketball games and more.

Friday, Jan. 27

  5–6 p.m.   Rec Center, Studio 2
Are you up for a challenge? This free movement class teaches students how to use their hands and feet more efficiently. 

 

  7 p.m.   CU Events Center   $10–$12
The CU women’s basketball team is taking on California schools this weekend. The game against UCLA is in support of breast cancer awareness. 

  8 p.m.   CHEM 140
Knock at the Cabin is an upcoming film starring Dave Bautista, Jonathan Groff and Ben Aldridge. The film follows a young girl and her parents who are taken hostage. Watch the movie before it hits theaters!

  8 p.m.   Sommers-Bausch Observatory
Explore the night sky with Sommers-Bausch Observatory. This open house is free and open to the public.


Saturday, Jan. 28

  10 a.m.–3 p.m.    Rec Center, Large Ice Overlook Meeting Room, $85–$105
Have you ever had CPR training? Cardiopulmonary resuscitation can save a life. This six-hour course offers CPR and automated external defibrillator training. 

  2 p.m.   Imig Music
This Saturday, the stars of the future are on stage at CU Boulder. This free recital allows Buffs from the College of Music to present old and new works. 

Big Astronomy: People, Places and Discoveries

  2:30–3:30 p.m.   Fiske Planetarium   $8–$12
Explore three observatories located in Chile’s extreme environments without leaving Boulder.


Sunday, Jan. 29

  Noon   CU Events Center   $10–$12
This women's basketball game takes place on National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Sko Buffs! 

  2–6 p.m.   Rec Center   $175–$210
Do you want to become a lifeguard? This 32-hour course covers everything you need to know from the American Red Cross. 

  2:30–3:30 p.m.   Fiske Planetarium   $8–$12
Thousands of stars and planets have been discovered in the night sky. Visit Fiske Planetarium for an introduction to the universe.
