Compliance Week: Why it matters

Compliance Week: Why it matters

Each September, multiple campus partners collaborate on Compliance Week to share out messages about key policies and compliance issues that our students, faculty and staff need to be aware of. Over the coming days, you can expect to receive e-memos about topics such as student privacy, voter registration, alcohol and other drugs, and the Annual Security Report, among others.

Why it matters

Honor, respect, integrity and consistency are critical to what we do at CU Boulder.

The university relies on each individual to know and follow the applicable legal, regulatory, university and other compliance requirements. Understanding policies and how to follow them is important as we perform groundbreaking research, engage in healthy civic discourse, cheer on our student athletes on the world stage, send astronauts into space and create opportunities for students to thrive as future leaders.

Information shared out during Compliance Week helps aid in that understanding.

Campus resource: Office of Compliance, Ethics and Policy

Compliance with laws, regulations and university policies is everybody’s responsibility, and the Office of Compliance, Ethics and Policy (OCEP) is here to help. OCEP provides leadership and university-wide collaboration that strengthens accountability, proactively and cooperatively manages risks, and promotes and assists in compliance with federal and state law. We do this through training, communication, assessment and regular reporting.

Compliance, Ethics and Policy Month Education Series

To help build campus awareness, OCEP is also launching the Compliance, Ethics and Policy Monthly Education Series. All students, faculty and staff are invited to participate each month.

To kick off the series, OCEP is hosting two sessions to share more about the work being done to help provide a safe and healthy campus environment:
