Congrats Buffs, you made it through January! This week brings to campus the Spring Volunteer Fair, free root beer floats, the Inclusive Sports Summit, Black History Month and Chinese New Year celebrations, International Coffee Hour, an ultimate gamer tournament and more.

Monday, Feb. 3

  2–3 p.m.   UMC, North Dining Room and stage
Stop by to enjoy a root beer float on your way to class and learn about different campus organizations.

 

  4–5 p.m.   C4C
Want to stand out in a crowded job market? It's all about who you know—and how you connect with them. Attend this workshop to learn how to build professional relationships that can open doors to the hidden job market, where opportunities aren't always posted online.

 

  7–9 p.m.   UMC The Connection
Show off your skills at an 8-ball or 9-ball billiards tournament at The Connection! Free to enter. Sign-up starts at 6 p.m. at The Connection front desk. Prizes for top finishers! 

Tuesday, Feb. 4

 

  10 a.m.–noon   UMC 330
Watch the Denver Nuggets face off against the Orlando Magic at Ball Arena on Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. Students can take the RTD FF1 bus for free with their Buff OneCard to Denver to watch the game. Pick up your ticket on Feb. 4 between 10 a.m. and noon at CSI (UMC 330). One ticket per student. Must show Buff OneCard. 

 

  11 a.m.–1 p.m.   Wardenburg, West Solarium 321
Washing your hands with soap and water is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of germs. Join this hands-on workshop where you’ll make your own soap and learn why hand hygiene is key to illness prevention. Stay healthy, Buffs! 

  5–7 p.m.   Williams Village North, Innovation Station
Get together with fellow Buffs and paint your own tote bag! Registration in BuffConnect is free and required to participate. All supplies will be provided.

Join the Center for Inclusion and Social Change to share stories, discuss identity and highlight the resilience and contributions of the Afro-Latinx/é community.

Join Recreation Services and Colorado Athletics for the annual Inclusive Sports Summit. This year’s theme is "We change the game: Embracing the value of inclusive sports and recreation."

Join the Center for Student Involvement and student leaders for a luncheon to figure out your leadership style!

Get involved in your community, learn new skills and make connections through volunteering! Meet local organizations with volunteer opportunities at the Spring Volunteer Fair. Hosted by the Volunteer Resource Center.

Cheer on the women's basketball team as they take on the University of Arizona Wildcats at the CU Events Center. CU students with a valid Buff OneCard are free in general admission seating. Buffs wear white!

Celebrate Black History Month at the Dennis Small Cultural Center with a jazz hour where you'll get to study and honor the origination of jazz. Pastries and beverages will be provided. 

‘The Beginning of the Universe in Trillions of Degrees’—Distinguished Research Lecture

  4–5 p.m.   CASE, Chancellor's Hall and Auditorium
Ten trillion degrees Fahrenheit is unfathomably hot—more than 10,000 times hotter than the Sun’s core—and it’s the temperature of the universe just moments after the Big Bang. Join CU Boulder Professor Jamie Nagle as he discusses the quarks and gluons that formed at the Big Bang.

Grab your Buff OneCard and head over to Fiske Planetarium to enjoy Free Fiske Thursdays! All 7 p.m. shows and star talks are free for CU Boulder students on Thursdays.

Compete head-to-head in a yearlong competition with other CU Boulder students to be named the Ultimate Gamer! Each event of the tournament features a different game genre from Battle Royales to Survival to Roguelikes. Players can win each event and earn points. At the end of the year, the player with the most points will be named CU Boulder's Ultimate Gamer. This round of Ultimate Gamer is for Marvel Rivals—pros and novices welcome.

This event showcases Alan Mackwell’s Rail Dynamics, a multi-movement work for string trio and fixed media, structured as 10 landscape-style movements and inspired by a defunct rail line in northern New Mexico's high desert.
