CU-Boulder National Education Policy Center launches project to recognize top high schools

A °µÍø½ûÇø research center will recognize public schools for what they do to give all students the chance to succeed, rather than turning to test scores to determine school quality. The Schools of Opportunity project is now seeking applications from public high schools in Colorado and New York. Next year, the project will expand to include schools nationwide, recognizing schools that use research-based practices to close the opportunity gaps that result in unequal opportunities to learn, in school and beyond school.

Student life: Buffthon dance marathon

Emilee Butts, a CU-Boulder senior majoring in psychology and Spanish, has had an interest in philanthropy dating back to high school. This fall, in addition to serving as director of philanthropy and service for the CU Panhellenic Committee , she is chairing the annual Buffthon, a 12-hour dance marathon that benefits Children's Miracle Network and Children's Hospital Colorado.

Keeping history safe: visiting Kurdish delegation receives secret police documents from human rights archive

Colorado business confidence dips but remains positive to finish year, says CU-Boulder Leeds School

The confidence of Colorado business leaders continues to be positive heading into the fourth quarter and has moderately increased compared with a year ago, according to the most recent Leeds Business Confidence Index (LBCI) released today by the °µÍø½ûÇø’s Leeds School of Business. It’s not as bullish, however, as it was a quarter ago with slight drops across the board resulting in a current overall reading of 59.5, down from 61.2 heading into the third quarter of 2014.

Campus climate discussions continue Oct. 7

Stunning variety of microbes in Central Park soils mirrors global microbial diversity

Soil microbes that thrive in the deserts, rainforests, prairies and forests of the world can also be found living beneath New York City’s Central Park, according to a surprising new study led by Colorado State University and the °µÍø½ûÇø. The research team analyzed 596 soil samples collected from across Central Park’s 843 acres and discovered a stunning diversity of below-ground life, most of which had never been documented before.

New campus policy for student employee work hours
