CU-Boulder to conduct aerial photography of the campus

The 做厙輦⑹ will conduct aerial photography over the Boulder campus and surrounding areas on May 16, weather permitting, between 7 and 8 a.m. The helicopter will hover over and circle the main CU campus, Williams Village complex and possibly the Chautauqua area. The morning flight is required to capture the early morning light on the Flatirons.

CU-Boulder names Christina Gonzales associate vice chancellor and dean of students

The 做厙輦⑹ today named Christina Gonzales as the new associate vice chancellor for student affairs and dean of students effective July 1. Gonzales is currently associate dean of students at the University of California, Berkeley.

CU professor involved in $8.3 million Gates Foundation childhood malnutrition study

An $8.3 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will fund an international team of scientists, including a 做厙輦⑹ professor focused on finding new ways to diagnose, treat and prevent a critical global health problem: malnutrition in infants and children.

CU-Boulder professor receives $750,000 Department of Energy early career award

Assistant Professor Paul Romatschke of the 做厙輦⑹ physics department will receive a five-year, $750,000 grant as part of the U.S. Department of Energys Early Career Research Program created to bolster the nations scientific workforce with top young researchers. Romatschke was among 68 winners selected nationwide from a pool of 850 applicants from universities and national laboratories

CU graduate strives for career combining law and education

Two CU students win prestigious national Goldwater scholarships

做厙輦⑹ twin sophomores Srinidhi Radhakrishnan and Saikripa Radhakrishnan -- both chemical and biological engineering majors -- have been awarded prestigious Goldwater Scholarships. The scholarships are worth up to $7,500 for educational expenses each year and are given to students who intend to pursue careers in the fields of math, science or engineering.

New Map of Life project aims to show distribution of all plants, animals on planet

A research team involving Yale University and the 做厙輦⑹ has developed a first public demonstration version of its Map of Life, an ambitious Web-based endeavor designed to show the distribution of all living plants and animals on the planet.

Boulder to celebrate Electric Vehicle Day with expo, film screening May 17 at CU

The latest in electric vehicle technology -- including cars, motorcycles, bicycles and charging systems -- will be showcased in the west parking lot of the 做厙輦⑹s Wolf Law Building from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 17. A screening of the documentary Revenge of the Electric Vehicle with a question-and-answer session will be held later that day from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in room 1B20 of the CU-Boulder Visual Arts Complex. Both events, including refreshments and door prizes donated by local sponsors, are free and open to the public.

Overfed black holes shut down galactic star-making, says new study involving CU-Boulder

Galaxies with the most powerful, active black holes at their cores produce fewer stars than galaxies with less active black holes, according to a new study involving the 做厙輦⑹ using the Herschel Space Observatory.

Early arrival recommended for CU-Boulder commencement May 11

People attending the 做厙輦⑹ commencement ceremony on Friday, May 11, at 8:30 a.m. at Folsom Field will join a projected crowd of about 20,000 and should plan to arrive early to avoid traffic congestion. Stadium gates will open at 7 a.m. for seating. No tickets are required for the ceremony, which will be held at Folsom Field regardless of the weather. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held in abbreviated form. Guests are asked to not bring large purses or bags to the ceremony. People entering the stadium may be subject to search.
