Philip DiStefano, interim chancellor of the University of Colorado at Boulder, will meet with Grand Junction officials from Mesa State College, the Mesa County Valley 51 School District and area legislators June 14-15 as part of a Western Slope tour. Joining DiStefano will be faculty and students who represent some of CU-Boulder's exceptional educational programs and outreach projects.

Contributions Will Be Accepted For Reward In Racial Incident

The University of Colorado at Boulder has joined with the Boulder Police Department and Boulder County Crime Stoppers to establish a process for people to contribute to a reward for information about a racially motivated attack on a CU-Boulder student last Friday.

CU Wizards Series Ends Season With 'Black Holes' On June 18

Audience members will have the chance to fall into an artificial black hole and participate in other activities June 18 at the CU Wizards show "Black Holes." Professor Andrew Hamilton of the astrophysical and planetary sciences department will demonstrate the concepts of black holes in the University of Colorado at Boulder's Fiske Planetarium during a one-hour program starting at 9:30 a.m. "Black Holes" is the final presentation of the 2004-05 CU Wizards series.

CU Solar Decathlon Team To Unveil Design, Kick Off Construction On June 13

University of Colorado students will publicly unveil the design and kick off construction of their solar home June 13 as part of the second international Solar Decathlon competition sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy. Solar Decathlon Project Coordinator Cecile Warner of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory will join CU, college and community officials at the "house raising" ceremony, which is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Louisville Home Depot, 1200 Dillon Road. The event is free and open to the public.

CU-Boulder Adds $1,000 To Reward For Information On Assault Case

The University of Colorado at Boulder is adding $1,000 to the reward offered by Boulder County Crime Stoppers for information leading to an arrest and filing of charges regarding a racially motivated assault that occurred last Friday in Boulder. CU-Boulder's addition will bring the reward amount to $2,500, including $1,000 from Crime Stoppers and $500 pledged by a professor of the victim, according to Ron Stump, vice chancellor for student affairs.

University Libraries Changes Late Book And Other Fees In Response To Budget Needs

The University Libraries at the University of Colorado at Boulder is changing its book fine procedure in order to minimize the number of library books that are declared "lost" by the Libraries and billed by state collections as part of a larger response to overall budget constraints.

National Geography Association Honors CU-Boulder Prof With Education Award

University of Colorado at Boulder Professor Kenneth Foote has received the Association of American Geographer's 2005 Gilbert Grosvenor Honors in Geographic Education award. Foote was recognized for his efforts to improve the learning and teaching of geography in higher education through Web-based projects and for his work to help young faculty develop professionally. He also is the chair of CU-Boulder's geography department. Given annually by the AAG, the Gilbert Grosvenor award recognizes outstanding contributions in geographic education.
