CU-Boulder Engineering Professor Wins National Award For Excellence

For the second time in three years, a University of Colorado at Boulder professor has been selected to receive the American Institute of Chemical Engineers' Allan P. Colburn Award for Excellence in Publications. Kristi Anseth, CU-Boulder professor of chemical and biological engineering and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute assistant investigator, will receive the national award and $5,000 prize at the annual AIChE meeting Nov. 16-21 in San Francisco.

More Than 1,000 Bicyclists Expected For CU-Boulder Scholarship Fund-Raiser

A dean and a group of prominent University of Colorado at Boulder alumni hope more than a thousand cyclists will sign up for pledge rides during a new fall fund-raiser to benefit students at the university's College of Arts and Sciences. The Buffalo Bicycle Classic will be held Sept. 7 from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pledge-ride routes of 32, 65 and 100 miles will each begin and end near Folsom Field on the CU-Boulder campus. Proceeds raised by bikers will support student scholarships, research and creative projects.

Skyview High School Student Awarded CU Parents Association Scholarship

Gabriel Meraz, a senior honors student at Skyview High School in Thornton, is this year's recipient of the CU Leadership, Excellence, Achievement and Diversity scholarship awarded by the Parents Association at the University of Colorado at Boulder. The scholarship consists of $10,000 divided into four annual supplements of $2,500. The award was presented to Meraz at a July 18 banquet for high school students who successfully completed the CU-Boulder Pre-Collegiate Development Summer Residential Program.
