CU-Boulder Chancellor To Meet With Steamboat Springs Officials And Alumni, Parents June 15-16

Philip DiStefano, interim chancellor of the University of Colorado at Boulder, will meet with officials from the Steamboat Springs RE-2 School District and northwest Colorado legislators June 15-16 as part of a Western Slope tour. Joining DiStefano will be faculty and students who represent some of CU-Boulder's exceptional educational programs and outreach projects.

New Student Orientation Revamped At CU-Boulder

Incoming freshmen and transfer students and their parents will encounter a much-changed program at the University of Colorado at Boulder when they arrive on campus from June through August for New Student Orientation. Changes have been implemented in a variety of areas to bolster existing sessions, such as the interactive theater workshop, with new ones that fill in gaps and respond to changing campus issues, according to Jim Davis Rosenthal, director of orientation and Ralphie's Resource Center.

Prospective College Students To Sharpen Business Skills At CU-Boulder June 19-25

High school juniors from throughout Colorado will sharpen their business skills and get a taste of college life during a weeklong University of Colorado at Boulder program on campus June 19-25. The 30 students will take part in the Business Leadership Program, sponsored by CU-Boulder's Leeds School of Business Diversity Office. Participating students are prospective first-generation college students whose parents did not attend college, students who are economically disadvantaged or students who are members of underrepresented groups at CU-Boulder.

Contributions Will Be Accepted For Reward In Racial Incident

The University of Colorado at Boulder has joined with the Boulder Police Department and Boulder County Crime Stoppers to establish a process for people to contribute to a reward for information about a racially motivated attack on a CU-Boulder student last Friday.

CU Wizards Series Ends Season With 'Black Holes' On June 18

Audience members will have the chance to fall into an artificial black hole and participate in other activities June 18 at the CU Wizards show "Black Holes." Professor Andrew Hamilton of the astrophysical and planetary sciences department will demonstrate the concepts of black holes in the University of Colorado at Boulder's Fiske Planetarium during a one-hour program starting at 9:30 a.m. "Black Holes" is the final presentation of the 2004-05 CU Wizards series.

CU Solar Decathlon Team To Unveil Design, Kick Off Construction On June 13

University of Colorado students will publicly unveil the design and kick off construction of their solar home June 13 as part of the second international Solar Decathlon competition sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy. Solar Decathlon Project Coordinator Cecile Warner of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory will join CU, college and community officials at the "house raising" ceremony, which is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Louisville Home Depot, 1200 Dillon Road. The event is free and open to the public.
