Industry Affiliates
The Engineering Management Program’s primary objective is to provide our students the skills, knowledge, and tools to succeed as leaders in industry. Many of our faculty have decades of experience as industry leaders themselves, bringing a wealth of real-world practicality into the classroom. Yet in today’s fast-changing world, it is imperative for any leadership program to remain current with contemporary business processes and practices, while also anticipating the challenges and opportunities that arise with such rapid transformation.
CU Boulder’s Engineering Management Program continually updates its academic program by developing partnerships with influential organizations in key industries to ensure the curriculum is forward looking and reflects the needs of technical organizations today and in the future. This way our students receive the best management and leadership education available, and the ability to apply their education directly in their careers.
EMP Industry Advisory Council
The Engineering Management Program’s Industry Advisory Council (IAC) provides guidance, perspective, and advice towards achieving its strategic goals, future vision, and development. To be relevant in the ever-changing global workplace, this input is critical to the success of the Engineering Management Program. The members of the Industry Advisory Council represent a broad range of sectors, including aerospace, energy, medical devices, real estate and food and beverage. It also includes several alumni that recently graduated from the program.
Members are chosen for their leadership, wisdom, commitment, and willingness to provide guidance on program direction, future curriculum and how these areas are impacted by industry needs. The council meets two times per academic year, once in the spring and once in the fall on the °µÍø½ûÇø campus.

Partnership with Siemens
In 2023, EMP established a formal collaboration with Siemens, a leader in industrial automation with operations across the globe. Siemens enables companies to better navigate the digital transformation taking place across industry today. The goal of the collaboration is to leverage Siemens’ expertise in digital technologies with EMP’s online presence to establish a new professional certificate related to corporate sustainability and circular product design. The certificate, Design for the Circular Economy, is set to launch in early 2025 as a nine-course program on the Coursera platform. The certificate supports both Siemens’ corporate sustainability initiatives and EMP’s strategic goal of developing a curriculum that incorporates triple bottom line business practices and circular product management.
