Zack Hazlett

  • Previous Curriculum Coordinator
  • MCDB

Zack is a New Mexico native, who early in his college education gained a love for teaching science. He achieved his Master’s degree in Biochemistry at Colorado State University in 2020 and moved to Boulder, CO in 2021 to pursue his PhD in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Zack is driven to understand student learning as it pertains to their self-regulation and is currently studying ways to promote student use of higher order learning strategies under the advisement and mentorship of Dr. Jenny Knight. With the end goal of becoming a Discipline Based Education Researcher (DBER) and life science professor at the college level, Zack has taken extra curricular opportunities to be a direct part of teaching and promoting science education in various roles. He participates in CU Boulder’s Science Community Outreach Program and Education (SCOPE) as a curriculum leader, promoting exciting science opportunities for local students in the St. Vrain Valley School District.

Outside of his research and teaching, Zack has integrated into the Colorado lifestyle where he enjoys rock climbing, hiking, bike riding, and roller skating all with his loyal canine companion, Artemis, by his side.
